Chocolate, Kefir and Raspberry Protein Smoothie

This delicious gut boosting recipe has been created by Viki Garbett, a Culinary Medicinal Coach. It's packed with protein for a delicious breakfast or post work out boost.
- Kefir: Is full of live bacteria to support the gut microbiome. Having fermented foods can help look after your gut health which in turn will improve your immunity, skin and brain function and mental health. There are several studies on the gut-brain and now gut-brain and immune system axis and these are still in their early ages with more and more research being done.
- Banana: potassium and magnesium
- Raspberries are full of antioxidants and vitamin C, which helps reduce oxidative stress in our cells. Adding berries to our breakfasts can boost the immunity and help fight bugs and viruses too.
- Oats contain beta glucans that can help reduce cholesterol and also contain fibre to support a healthy microbiome. They are an excellent source of vitamin Bs which will help our nervous system.
- Raw cacao powder and nibs are the best sources of magnesium which aids in the production of serotonin. They contain PEA (Palmitoylethanolamide) which is responsible for the feeling of "bliss" same as when you fall in love. These are full of antioxidants, fibre and calcium, and vitamin Bs.
Instructions
Step 1 -
Add the kefir and the rest of the ingredients to your food blender except the cacao nibs.
Step 2 -
Blitz until smooth and creamy in consistency then sprinkle with cacao nibs.
Step 3 -
Consume straight away or prepare ahead but without the protein powder. Add the protein powder just before consuming.

- 100ml water
- 1 banana
- 50g handful raspberries
- 40g oats
- 1 tsp chia seed
- 1 tsp raw cacao powder
- 1 scoop Rejuvenated Chocolate Protein Smoothie
- Cacao nibs to sprinkle if desired
