What amino acid peptides are in a Collagen drink?

Collagen, Science

We love hearing your stories about the amazing results and benefits you are seeing with Collagen Shots.

From younger looking and feeling skin to the calming of digestion problems, we thought we’d share a little information on some of the key ingredients to let you know why there are so many benefits.

When we developed Collagen Shots, our super hero product there was no compromise. It had to have a whopping 10 grams or 10, 000 mgs of marine extract collagen per serving for maximum benefits but we needed to be affordable so that it could be part of everybody’s daily regime. It had been on the drawing board for several years and formulation was a journey of trials and testing to get the right consistency, flavour and most of all potency.

But what is the key to it’s success and amazing results?

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and supports skin health and its elasticity, taking it as a drink is the perfect way to supplement diminishing levels as we get older. If you are deficient in iron or vitamin C you would take a supplement so this is the perfect way to improve your skin but take a look at the added benefits with our Super Hero Collagen Shots.

Collagen contains many amino acids (proteins)

There are many amino acids in collagen and each one has it’s own fantastic benefits, here are the top 15 and a little info about those other key ingredients, acai berry and antioxidant vitamins. We actually tried to make this a short summary but it became impossible as each component is so amazing we wanted to shout and tell you all about them.

At number 15 Hydroxylysine is one of the main amino acids that actually forms collagen. It is vital to have this amino acid to have a complete product.

At number 14 Isoleucine e is an essential acid so it cannot be manufactured in the body and is best known for its ability to increase endurance and help to repair muscle tissue. It’s broken down to make energy in muscle tissue and helps to regulate blood pressure.

At number 13 Valine another essential amino acid, it works synergistically with isoleucine and leucine to promote cell cell repair, regulate blood sugar and provide the body with energy. It stimulates the central nervous system and is needed for mental health.

At number 12 Phenylalnine It might be virtually impossible to say but Phyneylalnine is an essential amino acid for normal functioning of the central nervous system, it is able to penetrate the blood brain barrier and only chemicals that can cross this barrier can directly affect brain function.

This amazing amino acid can help you to feel happier, less hungry and more alert and it has been shown to be of benefit to those suffering from vitiligo, a condition that causes lack of pigmentation in the skin.

At number 11 Leucine works with isoleucine and valine to repair muscles, regulate blood sugar and provide the body with energy. It is converted to glucose more quickly than isoleucine and valine so is excellent for energy.

It promotes healing of bones, skin and muscle so is often used before and after surgery to help the healing process.

At number 10 Threonine is an essential amino acid, it promotes normal growth by helping to maintain correct protein balance in the body and supports the cardiovascular, liver, central nervous and immune systems.

It creates two other amino acids, glycine and serene – both necessary for the production of collagen elastin and muscle tissue including the heart. It also helps in the building of strong bones, tooth enamel and speeding up the healing process.

This wonder amino acid combines with aspartic acid and methane ( two other amino acids) to help the liver with the digestion of fats and fatty acids, without threonine in the body fats could build up in the liver and ultimately cause liver failure.

The benefits of this amino acid go on, it helps to boost the immune system, aiding in the production of antibodies and helps to support the central nervous system so has a positive effect on some types of depression.

The amino acid glycine cannot pass in to the central nervous system but threonine can, it is then broken down in to glycine and has shown to be helpful for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) sufferers.

At number 9 Serine is a non essential amino acid and is formed from the amino acid, glycine. It is important for overall good health both physical and mental, it plays a part in the proper functioning of the brain and central nervous system.

It helps to form phospholipids needed to make every cell in the body and plays a part in the function of RNA and DNA, fat and fatty acid metabolism, muscle format, maintenance of a healthy immune system.

Serine is contained in the proteins in the brain and the myelin sheaths that cover our nerves, without serene, the myelin sheaths could fray and become less effective at delivering those all important messages between brain and body.

It is involved in making tryptophan, an amino acid that is used to make serotonin, a mood enhancing chemical in the brain.

At number 8 Lysine is a key amino acid in the formation of collagen, it has great antiviral properties and helps to prevent outbreaks of herpes and cold sores, contributes to hormone production and the growth and maintenance of bones.

Lysine is involved in the production of antibodies and boosting the immune system.

At number 7 Aspartic acid stimulates the metabolism, treats fatigue and depression. Aspartic acid moves coenzyme nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) from the main body of the cell to its mitochondria, where its used to create adenosine triphospate (ATP) the fuel that powers all cellular activity and burns off unwanted fat.

By increasing levels of NADH in the brain, it helps with concentration. it is a non essential amino acid as te bod is able to manufacture it’s own supply.

At number 6 Alanine or L’Alanine, helps to covert simple sugar glucose in to energy and eliminate excess toxins from the liver. It helps to protect cells from damage during aerobic activity.

Alanine is crucial for preserving the balance levels of nitrogen and glucose, it has shown to help to regulate insulin levels and effectively prevents night time hypoglycaemia. This amazing amino acid has also been trialled for treatment in reduction of symptoms of some benign prostate cancers.

At number 5 Arginine, or l-arginine is an amino acid that is needed to keep the liver, skin, joints and muscles healthy, it strengthens the body’s immune system, regulates hormones, blood sugar and promotes male fertility.

Arginine is considered a semi essential amino acid, the body does manufacture its own supply but supplementation can improve the immune system and arterial health. It stimulates the pancreas to release insulin and regulates the growth hormone.

At number 4 Hydroxyproline, Proline and lysine together make hydroxyproline and hydroxylysine, two amino acids that form collagen. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and is key in skin elasticity and health. Hydroxyproline is key in preventing slackening of the skin and wrinkling. It helps to heal cartilage and to cushion the joints and vertebrae. For this reason, proline supplementation may prove beneficial for treatment of conditions such as osteoarthritis, persistent soft tissue strains, and chronic back pain.

At number 3 Glutamic Acid, also called glutamate, is an excitatory neurotransmitter that increases the firing of neurons in the central nervous system. It is a major excitatory neurotransmitter in the brain and spinal caord. Glutamic Acid is important in the metabolism of sugars and fats, helps in the transportation of potassium into the spinal fluid and across blood-brain barrier. Glutamic acid has been used in the treatment of epilepsy, mental retardation, muscular dystrophy, ulcers, and hypoglycemic coma, a complication of insulin treatment for diabetes. It is a component of folate, folic acid, a B vitamin that helps the body break down amino acids.

At number 2 Proline is an amino acid needed for the production of collagen and cartilage. It keeps muscles and joints flexible and helps reduce sagging and wrinkling that accompany UV exposure and normal ageing of the skin.

Proline helps the body break down proteins for use in creating healthy cells in the body. It is absolutely essential to the development and maintenance of healthy skin and connective tissues, especially at the site of traumatic tissue injury. Proline and lysine are both needed to make hydroxyproline and hydroxylysine, two amino acids that form collagen.

At number 1 Glycine is used to help create muscle tissue and convert glucose into energy. It is also essential to maintaining healthy central nervous and digestive systems, and has recently been shown to provide protection via antioxidants from some types of cancer.

Glycine is used in the body to help construct normal DNA and RNA strands—the genetic material needed for proper cellular function and formation. High concentrations of glycine are found not only in the muscles, but in the skin and other connective tissues as well. Almost 1/3 of collagen, which keeps the skin and connective tissue firm and flexible, is composed of glycine. (High amounts of Glycine are also found in gelatin, which is a form of denatured collagen). Without glycine the body would not be able to repair damaged tissues; the skin would become slack as it succumbed to UV rays, oxidation, and free radical damage, and wounds would never heal.

Glycine supplie the body with glucose needed for energy and helps to regulate blood sugar levels, and thus glycine supplementation may be useful for treating symptoms characterised by low energy and fatigue. It plays an important part in a healthy digestive system as it helps regulate the synthesis of the bile acid used to digest fats, and is included in many commercial gastric antacid agents.

Glycine is necessary for central nervous system function. Research has shown that this amino acid can help inhibit the neurotransmitters that cause seizure activity, hyperactivity, and manic (bipolar) depression. Glycine can also be converted to another neurotransmitter, serine, as needed, and may be beneficial in the management of schizophrenia.

Glycine also helps improve memory retrieval loss in those that suffer from a wide variety of sleep-depriving conditions, including schizophrenia, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, jet lag, and overwork.

Results from preliminary studies of glycine as a potential treatment for cancer have been promising, and suggest that it may help prevent the development of cancerous tumours and melanoma. Glycine also seems to play a role in keeping the prostate healthy. In one study, glycine was shown to help reduce the symptoms of prostatic hyperplasia in men.

Well if you were wondering why you were seeing fantastic health benefits with Collagen Shots may be the above list has helped…..

Other listed amino acids are Histidine, Methionine and Tyrosine.
