What are the top health trends for 2023?

The really good news is that there will be an increased focus on positive health care

Traditionally in the Western world, looking after our health meant that you treated someone once they became ill.  Now we are being proactive in preventative measures, taking health tests but also looking into supplements to boost wellness.

Tele diagnostic

As medical professionals have ever increased demands on their time there will be an increasing number of consultations carried out by video call or by phone. This will allow patients access to consultants in different geographical areas where necessary and give the patient more flexibility. A remote portable tool for CT scanners has been created that will allow professionals in the field the ability to carry out scanning and save valuable hospital time.

Mental wellbeing

There will be a continued focus on mental health as we face the long dark months during an economic slump. A Forbes Health poll revealed that the number 1 goal for New Year resolutions for 2023 is to improve mental health. Over 45% mentioned Mental health with 39% who listed fitness and 37% who want to lose weight.

Cold water therapy

Cold water therapy is a growing trend, it simply means immersing your body in water that’s less than 15 degrees Centigrade. This can be in the form of taking an ice bath, cold shower or outdoor swimming. This therapy boosts the immune system  and helps the body to get rid of damaged cells. Get the advantages of cold water therapy by turning your shower to cold for the last 30 seconds to 1 minute of your shower.

Nicotinamide

The trend for Nicotinamide (vitamin B3) in supplements will continue to grow in 2023 and NMN will be at the forefront. This form of vitamin B3 is absorbed quickly into the cells and stimulates NAD+ which plays an important part id DNA repair, cellular energy and helps to protect cells against stress and damage. Regenerate by Rejuvenated contains Nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN). It also contains ingredients that help to activate longevity genes.

Mushrooms

2023 continues to see an explosion in the announcements of health benefits in these humble fungi as experts rave about its medicinal properties. It’s rich in protein, fibre and antioxidants.

Repurposing plant pulp

Non-dairy milks such as coconut, almond and oat have become a huge industry but making them creates waste in the form of pulp. Companies are now repurposing this ‘waste’ commodity to make by products. Oats are particularly versatile as they can be used in oatmeal for baking products.

Vegetable pasta

In looking to increase the number of vegetables we include in our daily consumption there will be an increase in vegetables added produce such as pasta and also baked goods. While corn and lentil pasta are already on our shelves, look out for the introduction of squash and chickpeas making it easier to get your 7 a day.

Avocado oil

Avocado oil has been around for some time but will start to become more mainstream. This oil has a multitude of benefits as it’s packed with beta carotene and omega 3 and is associated with lowering cholesterol levels. It has a high smoke point and is an excellent choice for cooking.
