Top tips for healthy skin hydration with H3O Hydration

Skin, Science

Water is our most important nutrient, but just how much water do we need to drink for skin hydration?

..and how can we stay hydrated throughout the day?

Water is essential for health, although we can go for several weeks without food our bodies lose large amounts of water daily it’s impossible to survive very long without it. Water is vital for many essential body functions including digestion circulatory and excretory functions. It is essential to transport all water absorbable vitamins and nutrients into our blood stream and cells.

But do you really need to drink 2 litres of water a day for skin hydration?

There has never been a clinical study to show that you actually need to drink 2 litres of water a day and now it has been accepted that much as though tea and coffee are slightly dehydrating these also contribute to the volume of liquid drunk. In fact, the type of food that we eat can also contribute total water consumed. Foods like water cucumber, melon and strawberries are incredibly high in water and as the body recognises these whole foods and their nutrients our cells recognise this water readily.

What is cellular water?

Intracellular water is the water content within the cells, while extracellular fluid is the water within.

Extracellular water is body water that is not inside the cells and an increase of this can cause excess weight and swelling in the limbs. Imbalances in hormones, protein and minerals can cause an imbalance and lead to high blood pressure.

Can I improve the balance of my cellular water?

Yes. At Rejuvenated we have a two fold strategy to combat this process. The first is to strengthen cell walls and the second is to support the transfer of water across the cell membrane to achieve healthy fluid balance. We talk of two types of water in the body, intracellular and extra cellular.

The key is to make sure that water gets to our cells as hydrated cells are vital for good health. When we age cells lose their water content and by the time we reach middle age this amount may be just half of that in our childhood.

Our cells don’t function at their best when they do not receive enough water and we function better if they have optimal water levels. This is the reason that we created H3O Hydration, a hypotonic drink to allow for speedy transmission of electrolytes and minerals through the stomach wall, into the blood stream and on to the cells for healthy skin hydration.
