Glycerine helps to lower the body temperature which will help you sleep. 

In order for our bodies to produce serotonin, it needs glycine. Serotonin, in turn, is needed to produce melatonin, which is the hormone that helps manage your circadian rhythms (your sleep and wake-up cycle).
