Why Hydration is Important to Having a More Youthful Body

Health, Science

You are not just what you eat, you are what you drink.’ Dr Batnabgelidj

Water is the basis of life, we can’t live without it and hydration is one of the key factors in becoming more youthful. Water is abundantly free and yet so many of us don’t drink enough of this precious nutrient. In the second week, it’s time to increase your water consumption if you haven’t already.

Start your day by drinking water as soon as you get up and if you normally drink copious amounts of tea and coffee try to substitute every alternate one with a glass of water.

Water is our most important nutrient, it accounts for 50-70%of our body weight.  Low levels can cause inflammation and long term dehydration can lead to disease.

But just how much water do we need to drink? and how can we stay hydrated throughout the day?

Water is essential for health, although we can go for several weeks without food our bodies lose large amounts of water daily. It’s impossible to survive very long without it.  Water is vital for many essential body functions including digestion circulatory and excretory functions.  It is crucial to transport all water absorbable vitamins and nutrients into our blood stream and cells.

Water carries oxygen to every single cell in the body. It transports sodium, calcium, magnesium, potassium and other salts in and out through the cell membranes to achieve electrolyte balance, without which nothing functions as well as it should.

When there’s enough water in the body, the blood and lymphatic fluid can flow more easily. Blood carries enzymes and nutrients to the organs, and the lymph fluid connects with the bloodstream to take waste away to the elimination routes (skin, nose, bowel, kidneys and lungs).

It helps to dilute acids in the body, making the blood more alkaline and the internal system healthier. It moisturises the skin, making it look younger, and is essential for brain health. We sometimes forget that the brain is an organ too – an organ that is almost entirely made up of water and fat. Water fluid cushions every joint and bone in the body and every single vertebrae is also surrounded by it, so if you want a healthy, pain-free back, get drinking! You can soon start to see howWhy boosting hydration can play an important part in being more youthful.

What is cellular water?

Intracellular water is the water content within the cells, while extracellular water is body water that is not inside the cells.  An increase of extracellular water can cause excess weight and swelling in the limbs.  Imbalances in hormones, protein and minerals can cause an imbalance and lead to high blood pressure.

Our cells don’t function at their best when they do not receive enough water and we function better if they have optimal water levels.

Can I improve the balance of my cellular water?

Yes at Rejuvenated we have a twofold strategy to combat this process and we can share how paying attention to hydration levels can help you to be more youthful.  The first is to strengthen cell walls and the second is to support the transfer of water across the cell membrane  this can help you to achieve healthy fluid balance.  Our collagen drinkCollagen Shots provides all the amino acids key to building cell walls which H3O Hydration supplements can help to balance fluid levels in the cells.

You can help fluid balance by drinking H3O Hydration, a hypotonic drink to allow for speedy transmission of electrolytes and minerals through the stomach wall, into the blood stream and on to the cells.
