In your 50’s the natural cell renewal cycle slows down to around 90 days causing the skin to look dull, lacklustre, dry and sluggish. This also makes it difficult for active ingredients to be able to penetrate deeper.
A rapid decline in oestrogen causes the skin to become drier and thinner. Menopause causes the body to stop making as much collagen making the skin prone to fine lines and wrinkles. A loss of fat causes the skin to lose volume.
The epidermis becomes thinner and more transparent and the blood vessel walls become thinner so our skin may bruise easier.
Deeper lines and wrinkles are a main concern along with sagging skin and pigmentation from years of unprotected daily sun exposure. Drier, coarser skin texture and a dull tired skin is an issue along with loss a volume in the face.
Skin becomes more dehydrated as we age, this is because we don’t stimulate as much Hyaluronic acid. This molecule is critical to the skin as it is required to help cells divided and gives volume to the skin.

Avoid refined foods such as white bread and sugar as these can destabilise the delicate balance within the microbiome.
